PAWEŁ KWAŚNIEWSKI
Warsaw, Poland
EMIGRATION
by Viktor Petrov
The performer asks the audience to stand in such a way as to form a long corridor,
while leaving him some personal space. Walking down the corridor, the performer
gives a lecture about his impressions of the world. He speaks of how his reflexes
are linked to ecology and history. He shows us objects, both natural and synthetic,
demonstrates the operation of an aerosol air freshener, then tells us about natural
and synthetic smells. We can smell them. The man shows us nature and explains
both the natural and synthetic history of the origins of this nature. Throughout
the lecture, he pierces himself with small needles bearing flags, thus designating
his body as a natural element, and capitulating before the insolubility of natural
and historical problems.
