AMERICAN DREAM No.1

A person who perceives. This means he hears and sees, but fails to agree. What
with? With the fact that the world is brimming with miscellaneous crap, junk
and dross of empty illusions and delights. The world is over-full of Coca-Cola
chemicals. The performer is listening to a "TV show", a mindless,
pre-digested pop-service. He can only hear it by sticking a "radar antenna"
onto his head, a special device which allows him to see the "cloud of illusions"
- a chimera that must be fought and chased away in fear. The performer affirms
his own truth by destroying the illusion of "thirst-quenching", firing
shots into a parody of life, handing out empty cans of an empty life, and turning
on empty music and TV channels. Non-alignment, struggle, standing up for your
own position, the unacceptability of foreign clichés. The Irish Republic! A
flag and a pistol. The performer is a soldier, and the performance - a space
for combat. This implies we are on one frontline, with nothing before or behind
us but the beating of our hearts.
